Walter Millard being an angler, named the whisky Black Dog in honour of
his favorite salmon fishing fly used in the Spey and Tay rivers of
Scotland since the early 19th century. Such is the rich history of this
scotch. That was the time when a great legend was born - Black Dog Scotch.
Just to elaborate.....from the Scottish highlands came Walter Millard.
A career in British India made him the controller of Phipson and Co. Ltd.
But the search of an impeccable whisky took him back to Scotland in 1883.
And it was at his father-in-law, James Mackinlay’s home, that his search
ended.
Mackinlay’s presentation of Scotch whisky labels based on the names
of different Salmon fishing flies was to change Walter Millard’s life
- and the world of the finest Scotch...Millard discovered Black Dog.
Even over a hundred years later, Black Dog whisky has remained faithful
to the original blend. With its famous mellow smoothness, the quality and
consistency of the blend of Black Dog has been preserved through generations.
That’s the promise of Black Dog’s portfolio Black Dog Scotch Whisky
